We usually meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month (Sept – June) at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Cultra, Holywood – between Belfast and Bangor (directions). We enjoy a wide and varied programme of lectures and workshops, with textile artists and tutors, both local and internationally recognised, sharing their knowledge and expertise. Topics range from traditional skills to contemporary techniques. Our meetings often include Saturday afternoon and Sunday workshops as well as the Saturday morning lecture. We also have a lending library of specialist books and magazines.
Membership consists of about 120 professional and semi-professional textile artists, enthusiastic amateurs and interested novices. Some have completed Art Degrees or City & Guilds courses in creative embroidery but many more simply come along on a Saturday morning to meet friends, hear the speaker and see some inspirational work.
