97cm x 72cm.
Free machine embroidery on pieced linen salvaged from a mill in Flax Street Belfast that closed in the 1970's.
The gantry, built by Sir William Arrol for Harland and Wolff Shipbuilders in Belfast, to accommodate the construction of the Titanic. Ironically it survived the Troubles to be demolished by the authorites in the late 70's.
The piece marks the end of the shipbuilding and linen industry in Belfast.
