Maria Boyle Gallery

A few images of Maria Boyle’s work “Lichen: Exploring colour, texture and mark” taken at the end of her talk to the Guild. The work showed a variery of techniques, mostly worked on a subtle and textured base of silk noil with knitted wools needlefelted through from the back, embellished with hand-stitch, xpanda print etc. Some of the photographs show the front and the reverse of the work so you can see how the wool has felted through from the back. The work was based on the journey of the Sami (nomadic people of Lapland) who followed the reindeer herds as they moved across vast areas in search of lichen.
